APG acquires new systems from Nexo & Yamaha C.A.

Audio Production Group started 2012 strong with the acquisition of 2 Yamaha M7CL-ES 48 channel digital mixing consoles, 4 SB168 ethersound connected head amps, 16 Nexo S1210/1230 line array cabinets (pictured right), 4 NEXO RS15 cardioid subs, 4 NEXO PS10 2 way cabinets, and 2 NEXO NX4X4 4 channel amplifiers.

New Gear -
RockHard Tilt Roadcases

A new road case design by Rock Hard Cases allows one technician to lift and flip up large format consoles. APG immediately housed our new Yamaha M7's in the Rock Hard Evolution Series Cases for fast and easy setup.

The new SB168 stage boxes and Nexo 4 channel amps live in custom racks. Designed by APG and Kevin Korecky, these racks minimize costly setup time while taking up less floor space.

Graduation Audio -
APG supplies new Nexo Array for Cañada College

In 2012 APG flew the newly acquired Nexo Geo S12 Line Array for the Cañada College graduation ceremony. APG took a survey of the outdoor plaza and used Nexo Geosoft software and measurement tools to calculate angles and the number of boxes to be hung. As for any event, safety and clean setup are paramount concerns. APG has a proven 20 plus year history of providing professional audio support to academic institutions in the Bay Area, with a clean safety record. As a licensed C7 contractor, fully insured and bonded, APG also provides design and installation services.

Tech Report –
Countryman 10S and Type 85S stereo direct boxes

Bay area company Countryman has been making their universally renowned DI boxes since the early 80's. Located in Menlo Park, engineers at Countryman seek the advice of sound companies for feedback on their products. Countryman contacted Andy Heller and Gary Wood to do some testing of their new products. After testing some prototypes in the field with excellent results, APG made some suggestions that were incorporated into the new products. The new features were discussed in an interview with APG in Pro Sound Web last October.

2012 Production Highlights

Pepper Tree Ranch, Guerra Vinyards

APG has been working with owner Al Guerra and producer Ryan Jones for the past two summer seasons providing sound systems and production planning for the concerts at Pepper Tree Ranch. The 2012 season featured a fantastic list of performers including Diamond Rio, Little Texas and Los Lobos. The Nexo GEO D system is in all it's glory in the 3000+ outdoor amphitheater. APG co-owner/engineer Gary Wood used the Nexo Geosoft software system to calibrate the mains which provided almost a perfect representation of the mix, even in the far corners of the grass. With its stunning amphitheater, hospitality, wine and of course great sound, Guerra is among the best outdoor concert venues in California.

Tower of Power celebrates over 40 years of East Bay Grease. For their 2012 tour APG co-owner and A1 engineer Andy Heller flew out for several dates to mix monitors with the legendary funk band. Monitor world consisted of multiple sets of in-ears and wedges controlled by Andy who was in his element behind the Yamaha PM5D digital console.

Yerba Buena Gardens Festival in San Francisco is the Bay Area's largest outdoor music series. Over 100 acts perform every year providing quality entertainment to the community. For the fourth consecutive year APG has been providing YGBF with reliable service from equipment maintenance, rentals, consulting, staffing and audio engineers. In addition to the weekly Thursday and Saturday afternoon concerts in the park, YGBF has expanded to the Dance on Jessie Square series across the street in front of the Jewish Contemporary Museum. APG and the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival are looking forward to another great season of free public concerts.

Dream Machines attracts thousands every summer and hosts everything from small scooters to bomber jets. APG provides audio for the entertainment stage and the demolition derby bleachers. International Tamburitza Extravaganza
APG provided a full production package including the flown Nexo 1210/1230 speaker system, driven by Nexo NX4x4 power amplifier/processors, and mixed on the Yamaha M7CL-48ES console. The production also included projection, image magnification (i-mag), video recording, and lighting for the annual Tamburitza festival which took place in Burlingame, CA at the Hyatt. Eastern European ensembles attract people from all over the world to listen to this infectious music and enjoy the sounds of the acoustic instruments featured in the extravaganza.
